A Clinical Study on Operative Treatment for Supracondylar Fracture of Humerus of Childrens



Abstract
Supracondylar fractures of ¢¥lbow joints in growing age were most frequent and disabling because of rotation deformity, cubitus varus, limitation of motion and neurovascular complications.
Closed reduction or traction is treatment of choice, but tried open reduction and internal fixation .for unreducible or easily displaced, or neurovascular impaired fractures, at S A H orthopaedic department, from March 1973 to February 1980, 33 cases of supracondylar fractures of growing age among the 95 cases were treated with operative procedures and thier clinicall and radiologic results were as follows..
1. It was most frequent between 6 and 8 year of age and left side.
2. 31 cases out of 33 cases were graded as Grade. III and Grade IV of Holmberg classification.
3. 29 cases out of 33 cases were excellent or good on radiologic results, post operatively.
4. Required average days of admission were 10.7 days.
5. Early operative treatments were important in prevention and treatment of neurovascular complication.
6. Further follow up studies about motion and growing of elbow joints were necessary.
